To investigate the effect of manipulative reduction combined with external fixation with small splint in the treatment of distal radius fracture.
An retrospective study was carried out in 54 patients with distal radius fractures [22 males, 32 females, aged 35~75 years old, average age (62.3+ 2) years] treated in the Department of orthopedics of Changzhou Wujin People's Hospital from October 2015 to Ocotober 2016. 54 patients were divided into observation group (28 cases) and control group (26 cases). The observation group of patients were treated with manual reduction combined with small splint external fixation treatment, and the control group was treated with open reduction and internal fixation. The treatment effect and adverse reaction rate of the two groups were compared and analyzed.
The observation group compared with the control group of patients The overall efficacy rate was not statistically significant between observation group and control group [92.86% (26/28) vs 88.46% (23/26), P>0.05], but the The adverse reaction rate of observation group was 7.14% , which was lower than that of the control group (2/28) [23.08% (6/26)], the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
Manual reduction combined with external fixation with small splint can reduce the incidence of adverse reactions and is worth to be popularized in clinical practice.
