Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application value of plasma NT- proBNP in early diagnosis and treatment and prognostic assessment for acute heart failure (AHF) patients.

Methods

Total 127 cases of AHF patients were collected in the Emergency Department of our hospital between January 2014 and December 2015. These cases were divided into 4 groups according to the NYHA classification of cardiac function: cardiac function grade Ⅰ group, cardiac function grade Ⅱ group, cardiac function grade Ⅲ group and cardiac function grade Ⅳ group. The relationship was o observed between plasma NT- proBNP, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and the happening of the major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in the AHF patients of different cardiac function grade groups.

Results

The increased level of plasma NT- proBNP was positively related to the NYHA classification of cardiac function, negatively related to LVEF; the reduced level of plasma NT- proBNP after the treatment for 1 week, was negatively related to the NYHA classification of cardiac function and the happening of MACE.

Conclusion

Plasma NT- proBNP has important value in early diagnosis and treatment and prognosis assessment for acute heart failure patients.

Key words: AHF, NT-proBNP, LVEF, MACE, Prognosis assessment
