Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect of psychological intervention on the delivery quality and postpartum depression of elderly parturient women.

Methods

A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted on 142 elderly women who gave birth in Jiaozhou People’s Hospital, aged 35~43 years, with an average age of (37.1±2.3) years. Among them, 80 were primipara and 62 were pluripara. The study subjects were randomly divided into control group and intervention group according to the random number table, with 71 parturients in each group. The control group received routine nursing and health education, the intervention group on the basis of routine nursing, prenatal, delivery and postpartum three stages of psychological intervention. The HAMD-17 score before admission and 4 weeks postpartum was also compared.

Results

The incidence of labor complications in the two groups was lower than that in the control group [12.7% (9/71) than 25.3% (18/71)], and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The duration of labor in the control group was longer than that in the intervention group [(17.2±2.1) h ratio (10.8±1.7) h]. The cesarean section rate [53.52% (38/71)] in the control group was also higher than that in the intervention group [28.17% (20/71)] (P <0.05). After intervention, HAMD scores of the two groups were significantly lower (P<0.05), and the HAMD scores of the intervention group were significantly lower (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Psychological intervention is beneficial to improve the quality of delivery, reduce the incidence of delivery complications and cesarean section, shorten the labor process, and reduce the incidence of postpartum depression.
