Application of integrated WeChat video visitation for medical and patient in ICU during the epidemic period of COVID-19

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application effect of integrated WeChat video visitation in ICU during the epidemic period of COVID-19.

Methods

A total of 30 patients in ICU of the Second People’s Hospital of Changzhou from April 1, 2021 to May 31, 2021 were selected as control group, and 30 patients from June 1, 2021 to July 31, 2021 were selected as observation group. Control group was given routine video visit, and observation group carried out the integrated WeChat video visit of doctors, nurses and patients. A questionnaire conducted was distributed to one or two families of each patient. The scores of psychological resilience and compliance of patients, satisfaction of patients and their families were compared between the two groups.

Results

There was statistically significant difference in mental toughness score between the two groups (P<0.001). There was statistically significant difference in satisfaction scores between the two groups (P<0.05). There was statistically significant difference in compliance score between the two groups (P<0.05). There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in family satisfaction scores (P<0.05).

Conclusions

This integrated model of doctors, nurses and patients is innovative in the COVID-19 epidemic.Through WeChat video visit, the positive psychological resilience and compliance of patients are effectively enhanced, while the satisfaction of patients and their families is significantly improved.
