To analyze the effect of pain control on pressure ulcer during peroperative period in older patients with hip fractures.

Between October 2011 and October 2014, 214 older patients with hip fracture were divided into two groups: treatment group (121 cases) and control group (93 cases). Patients in treatment group were not subjected to special analgesia, and control group underwent one of following procedures: intravenous analgesia pump, intramuscular injection of analgesic drugs, oral administration of central analgesics and non-steroidal analgesics. Then the incidence and grading of pressure ulcer were recorded.

There were significantly difference in pressure ulcer scale between two groups after 1 week post-operation (P<0.01); however, there were no difference in pressure ulcer grading between four subgroups of control group (P>0.05). There were difference in incidence and grading of pressure ulcer between two groups (P<0.05), and there were no differences in the incidence and grading of pressure ulcer between four subgroups of control group(P>0.05).

Suitable control of the pain may decrease the incidence of pressure ulcer during peroperative periodinolder patients with hip fractures. Intramuscular injection and oral administration of non-steroidal analgesics could be used conveniently, tolerantly and effectively.
