Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the prognosis of the diabetes patients with traumatic spleen rupture and provide the basis for clinical treatment.

Methods

A retrospective analysis was carried out on 12 patients with traumatic splenic rupture combined with diabetes mellitus from January 2012 to December 2016. Twenty-four patients with traumatic splenic rupture without diabetes mellitus were randomly collected as control group. The incidence of complications, mortality and hospital stay and platelet maximum in two groups were compared.

Results

The hospital stay, mortality and platelet maximum were not significantly different between two groups (P>0.05). There was difference in incidence of complications between two groups (P<0.05).

Conclusion

For patients with diabetes mellitus, traumatic splenic rupture may contribute for high incidence of complications such as infection, but may not influence the hospital stay, mortality and platelet maximum.
