Abstract:

Objective

To summarize the research focus and trends on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) by using bibliometric methods.

Methods

Based on the WOS core database search up to now, literatures related to OHCA were analyzed using the CiteSpace software, the online bibliometric analysis platform, and the biblioshiny software package with the R language, to visually analyze the literature output in this field from dimensions such as country/region, institutions, authors, journals, keywords, references, etc.

Results

A total of 7 642 related documents were included after screening. The number of publications on OHCA worldwide showed an annual upward trend. In the ranking of national publication volume, China was ranked sixth. The current focus of OHCA research was mainly revolved in four aspects: emergency medical services system, emergency measures, etiology and prognosis, as well as management strategies after ROSC. Among them, "automated external defibrillator" , "ROSC targeted temperature management" , "extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation" , "airway management" , and "remote command CPR" had become hot topics in current research.

Conclusion

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in research output in the OHCA field, and the aforementioned hot topics will continue to be the focus of future research. Despite facing numerous challenges, OHCA treatment remains an important issue for patients to improve survival rates and prognosis as emergency medical services continue to improve and more rescue measures are implemented.
