Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the expression profil changes of miRNAs in blood of patients with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and discuss their significance.

Methods

Blood samples from 3 patients with MODS caused by the lung infection and 3 patients healthy volunteers were used for high-throughput sequencing. A total of 1921 known miRNAs were screened to separate the abnormally expressed miRNAs through the cluster analysis.

Results

The expression of miR-223 and miR-148a was increased but the expression of miR-1273g was decreased.

Conclusion

miR-148a, miR-223 and miR-1273g may play a role in the pathogenesis of MODS, indicating that they are the potential laboratory markers for diagnosis and treatment of MODS.

Key words: miRNAs, Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, Critical care
