Abstract:

Objective

To dynamically monitor the content of plasma high-mobility group box-1 (HMGB-1) in patients with trauma and non trauma sepsis and to preliminarily explore the role of some cytokines in development of the disease so as to provide basis for clinical treatment.

Methods

A total of 28 trauma patients admitted into Wujin Hospital from October 2013 to October 2015 were enrolled in the study and divided into sepsis group (14 patients) and non-sepsis group (14 patients). The other 20 healthy persons were used as control group. Plasma was collected respectively at the time of diagnosis, the first day and the second day for detecting plasma HMGB-1 by using enzyme league immune analysis method.

Results

Compared with control group, HMGB-1 was significantly increased in sepsis group and non-sepsis group(P<0.05). In each time point, the HMGB-1 concentration was increased more significantly in sepsis group compared with non-sepsis group(P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between each time point within group(P>0.05).

Conclusion

For patients with trauma sepsis, timely monitoring the HMGB-1 change can be more sensitively to judge the occurrence of trauma sepsis, evaluate the severity and hence provide the basis for clinical treatment.

Key words: Trauma sepsis, High-mobility group box-1, Cytokine
