Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect of Comfeel hydrocolloid dressing on prevention of phlebitis caused by intravenous infusion of Multiple Electrolytic and Invert Sugar Injection.

Methods

140 cases of hospitalized patients injected with invert sugar were admitted from June 2016 to August 2017 in our hospital and were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 70 cases in each group. Both the observation group and the control group were treated with BD24G indwelling needle and fixed with 3M transparent dressing. The observation group was applied to the hydrocolloid dressing along the vein above the puncture, and the control group had no special treatment.

Results

There were 5 cases of phlebitis (26.3%) in the observation group and14 cases of phlebitis (73.7% ) in the control group . The incidence of phlebitis in control group was higher than that in the observation group (P<0.05). The catheter indwelling time in the observation group was (58.6±10.9) hours and the indwelling time of control group is (48.1±13.0)hours. The indwelling time of the observation group was less than that of the control group There was significantly difference between two groups (P< 0.05). The local pain during the liquid injection period were recorded in two groups. The observation group occurred in 11 cases and the control group occurred 54 cases . There was statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05).

Conclusions

The effect of hydrocolloid dressing in prevention of phlebitis caused by intravenous infusion of Invert glucose was significant with shorter indwelling time and lower injection pain t so the hydrocolloid dressing is effective.
