Connotation and denotation of community resilience in serious infectious diseases outbreaks

Abstract:

Objective

To clarify the classic connotation contained in the definition of community resilience, to put forward the definition of community resilience for serious infectious diseases outbreaks, and to accurately define its connotation and extension to provide theoretical support for improving the ability of communities to cope with major infectious diseases.

Methods

Under the guidance of Rodgers’ evolutionary concept analysis method, the relevant literature on the definition of community resilience at home and abroad was systematically searched, and the definitions of community resilience put forward by predecessors were comprehensively collected; Using the bibliometric analysis method, the impact index of the definition of community resilience was calculated and ranked; Content analysis was used to analyze the connotation of the definition of community resilience; the co-word cluster analysis was carried out to summarize the classic connotation and clarify its importance order; Using the most recognized concept definition method in formal logic, the "genus and species difference" method, combined with the characteristics and prevention strategies of major infectious diseases, the community resilience of major infectious diseases was initially defined. After two rounds of expert consultation, the definition was revised and improved.

Results

A total of 19 092 documents were retrieved and 411 were included. A total of 63 definitions of community resilience were selected and collected. 228 connotations were analyzed and 16 classic connotations were obtained by cluster analysis. According to the logical order of "objects, organizational forms, means, processes, tasks, results, goals, values, and influencing factors", the definition of community resilience in serious infectious disease outbreaks was proposed, and six connotations and two extensions were defined. The expert recognition rate of the revised definition reaches 100.00%.

Conclusion

The community resilience of major infectious disease epidemic is defined as: when faced with major infectious disease epidemic, under the leadership of government departments, community coordination, participation of volunteers and cooperation of community members, the community effectively uses all kinds of resources to correctly predict and early warning in advance, makes prevention and emergency preparedness for possible epidemic situations, reacts quickly to resist the epidemic situation in the event, and effectively recovers the normal operation of the community after the event, and draws lessons from it, and then reduces the impact of the epidemic, maintains the basic structure and functions of the community, and ensures the health and safety of community residents and the sustainable development of community business and administrative functions.
