Abstract:
Objective To compare the pretreatment methods on improvement of surgical instruments for night emergency surgery, so as to improve the cleaning quality of the surgical instruments.
Methods A total of 300 surgical instruments that were used for the night emergency from Jan 2017to Dec 2017 were collected and divided into A, B and C group with 100 pieces in each group. The group A was flushed with sterile water to directly remove visible pollutants, the group B was immersed fully in 1∶200 multi-enzyme detergent after tap water cleaning, and the group C was sprayed with long-lasting moisturizer after tap water cleaning. The cleaning effects were observed through the visual observation and ATP monitoring.
Results The qualified rates of disinfection through the visual observation and ATP monitoring were 69.0% and 51.0% in the group A, 83.0% and 69.0% in the group B, 96.0% and 91.0% in the group C. The cleaning quality of the group B or C has been significantly improved as compared with group A, the Chi-square test showed that the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
Conclusion The pretreatment methods of both 1∶200 multi-enzyme detergent and long-lasting moisturizer can significantly improve the cleaning quality of the night emergency surgical instruments.
