Abstract:
Objective To compare the effects of conservative treatment and internal fixation in patients with multiple rib fractures.
Methods We selected 98 cases of multiple ribs and multiple ribs admitted to the Department of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery of Suixi County People’s Hospital from March 2018 to May 2020. A retrospective study was carried out on patients with multiple rib fractures as the object of this study, including 62 males and 36 females; aged 21-72 years with average (45.3±9.7) years. According to the random number table method, the research objects were divided into internal fixation group and conservative group. There were 49 cases. Patients in the internal fixation group received internal fixation treatment, and the conservative group received conservative treatment. The clinical effects of treatments were compared. Differences in efficacy indicators (hospital time, pain relief time and fracture healing time) and the incidence of complications were analyzed.
Results The length of hospital stay in the internal fixation group (14.7±4.1) d, pain relief time (9. 4±2.2) d, fracture healing time (56. 2±5.8) d and the incidence of complications 22.4% (11/49) vs. 4.1% (2/49) were significantly lower than those in the non-surgical group (24±6.2) d, (13.5±5.2) d, (85.2±8.3) d, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
Conclusion For multiple rib fractures, the effect of internal fixation treatment for the patients is significant, which can not only effectively promote the recovery of patients, but also speed up the relief of patients' pain sensation and reduce the incidence of complications
